Testing time

Testing at our outreach sessions – Not available under National Restrictions from Thursday 5 November until Wednesday 2 December.

We are slowly resuming our community HIV testing service. You can find out when and where we offer HIV testing via our online calendar and meet us there. No appointment necessary.

To protect our staff and service users, we will only admit clients whom are not presenting any recognisable risks for COVID-19 transmission. Your temperature will be checked upon arrival and we will not offering any face-to-face (f2f) service if you are presenting a high temperature.

Face to face service user screening questions

Today or within the last 14 days,

  • Have you had a high temperature?
  • Have you had any of the following symptoms: a new, continuous cough or a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste?
  • Have you tested positive for COVID-19?
  • Have you been contacted by the NHS test and trace services and asked to self-isolate?
  • Are you self-isolating after returning or entering the UK?
  • Has anyone in your household or your close contacts had (or does anyone currently have): a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss of, or change to, their sense of taste or smell?
  • Has anyone in your household or your close contacts tested positive for COVID-19?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, the client cannot be admitted to a f2f service until they have completed their self-isolation requirements.

Testing yourself without us

For those who are confident and comfortable enough to test yourself at home, we can provide you the testing kit.

During an online/virtual pre-test discussion, our staff will assess your sexual health needs and your level of risk. We will collect your postal address then and send you the testing kit afterwards. The same member of staff will contact you 10 days later to follow up your result and collect your feedback, offering any further support as required by you.

You can also follow the same booking process above if you already have the testing kit but need further support to test yourself. We have produced a short video for you in case you want to learn how to order the SHL testing kit and test yourself.
