Mya Rose
she/her
Counsellor - Trans Counselling Service
Mya works for Spectra as part of the Trans Counselling Service, and in private practice as an Integrative Counsellor and Solution-Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist. Trained integratively she draws on existential and psychodynamic frameworks, she strives to meet clients where they are, offering a warm, honest and at times challenging space in which to explore difficulty and move toward meaningful change.
Mya is passionate about making therapy accessible and relevant to those who have historically been underserved by mainstream mental health provision. She holds a particular commitment to working with people of colour, LGBTQIA+ individuals and men; people who have often felt unseen, misunderstood or poorly held in traditional therapeutic spaces.
Her work is shaped by an awareness of the intersecting forms of marginalisation that profoundly affect mental health and wellbeing, Including racism, transphobia, homophobia and the particular weight of navigating a world not built with you in mind.
Alongside her counselling practice, Mya integrates Solution-Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy to support clients seeking more immediate relief from anxiety, burnout, ADHD and other persistent patterns, offering a second pathway to change where talking alone may not be enough.
Before training as a therapist, Mya spent over a decade as a barber in some of London’s top salons, working editorials, training other barbers and helping businesses expand, an experience that has allowed her to have met all kinds of people from different walks of life.
This continues to shape the accessibility and humanity she brings to her work.
