Over the past two years, Spectra has undergone big changes in its structure, as well as our services and delivery of our work. Find more details on how our services have expanded, including a financial transparency report:
A key theme of core development has been ensuring that internal functions keep pace with service delivery, including people and culture support, equity and diversity, communications, PR and marketing, IT and database support, and financial support and management. Another key aspect has been financially securing our future by diversifying our funding and income opportunities, investing more in individual giving efforts.
During 2025, Spectra has also been working hard on supporting people and wellbeing, focusing on resetting the foundations of our culture together - looking back at the past and taking stock, as well as attending to present-day themes, and looking forward together for the future. We set our Strategic Plan 2026-2028 together at the end of 2025 and co-created a set of renewed values for Spectra's work and culture. The organisation has worked hard on strategic planning and processes and worked in a more collaborative way so that we can all point forward together and focus on the things that really matter to us. In 2025, we also worked actively negotiating a union recognition agreement with Unite the Union, which came to fruition in 2026.
Overall, the period has been characterised by change and consolidation: maintaining service delivery through leadership transition, strengthening operational infrastructure, and laying foundations for a more resilient organisation that can plan, recruit, and deliver consistently at scale.
