What it offers
Our community-based sexual health service offers free, confidential and nonjudgemental support for anyone wanting to check in on their sexual health. We provide information, supplies and testing in a trauma-informed, inclusive and welcoming environment. At our sessions you can find:
- Free condoms, lubricant and sexual health information
- Confidential STI testing using SHL test kits - results available in 3–5 working days
- Rapid HIV testing using point of care tests - Results come out in 15 minutes
Whether you want routine testing, peace of mind, or information about sexual health and wellbeing, our outreach team is here to provide you with respectful support without judgement.
Testing is available at multiple community venues throughout the week. Check out below where you can find us next. No appointment necessary; just turn up at any outreach event offering STI/HIV testing.
We also specifically serve people who face multiple challenges and disadvantages, including:
- Rough sleepers: For those experiencing homelessness, maintaining sexual health can be incredibly difficult.
- Mental health issues: Mental health struggles often go hand-in-hand with difficulties in accessing health services.
- Substance use issues: We understand the interrelation of substance misuse and sexual health. Spectra provides harm-reduction tools and sexual health support tailored to people’s needs, making sure to stigma use stigmatising language.
- Refugees and asylum seekers: We recognise the fear or mistrust that can come with accessing services as a person with an uncertain immigration status. At Spectra, we provide free, confidential care to all, regardless of legal status.
- Survivors of domestic violence: Those escaping violent situations often face sexual health challenges in silence. Spectra offers a secure, supportive space where survivors can access the care they need without judgment.
