Governance

Strong governance is essential to how Spectra works. It helps ensure we are accountable, transparent and effective, and that our services are safe, ethical and responsive to the communities we serve.

Our governance arrangements support good decision‑making, clear oversight and responsible use of resources, while staying true to our purpose and values.

Our governance structure

Spectra is governed by a Board, which holds overall responsibility for the organisation’s strategic direction, financial oversight and legal compliance.
The Board works closely with the senior leadership team to:

  • Set and oversee strategic priorities
  • Ensure effective and ethical delivery of services
  • Monitor performance, risk and organisational learning
  • Uphold safeguarding, equality and data protection responsibilities

Day‑to‑day operations are led by the senior leadership team, who are accountable to the Board for delivery, quality and impact.

Strategy, purpose and values

Spectra’s Board oversees the organisation’s strategic direction through an agreed Strategic Plan, which sets out our vision, mission, values and priorities.

Our purpose and values guide how decisions are made, how resources are used and how we work with communities, partners and staff. You can read more on our What we do page.

Safeguarding, ethics and accountability

We are committed to creating safe, respectful and inclusive environments for everyone who engages with our work.

  • Safeguarding children, young people and adults
  • Data protection and confidentiality (GDPR)
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Ethical and trauma‑informed practice

These policies are reviewed regularly and underpin all of our services, partnerships and professional work.

Transparency and learning

We are committed to reflection, learning and continuous improvement. Governance at Spectra supports:

  • Honest reflection on what is working well and what can improve
  • Learning from feedback, evaluation and lived experience
  • Responsible oversight of risk and organisational development
