Ruth Pearce is Research Coordinator for the Trans Learning Partnership, a collaborative project involving four community representatives, two academics, and four agencies that deliver services directly to trans and non-binary people: Spectra, Mermaids, Gendered Intelligence, and the LGBT Foundation. She joined Spectra in 2020.
Ruth was awarded her PhD in Sociology by the University of Warwick in 2016. As a researcher, she has worked on a range of topics related to gender equality, transgender health, and queer cultural participation, both individually and as part of interdisciplinary, international teams. Ruth is the author of the book “Understanding Trans Health: Discourse, Power and Possibility” (Policy Press, 2018) and editor of “The Emergence of Trans: Cultures, Politics and Everyday Lives” (Routledge, 2020). She has also written for a range of peer-reviewed publications, including Sociology, Sexualities, American Psychologist, Transgender Health, and Gender, Work & Organization.
